IMPACT Around The Globe
In partnership with the Nobelity Project, we created LEGO Math Kits & working through Med Students without Borders, Nobelity Project, and WPPC Nepal Foundation; we have sent them to Kenya, Ecuador, Peru, Nicaragua, and Nepal to include more students in the STEM experience. We have also provided them to a Richmond City elementary school in an underserved area. We are "grateful" to LEGO Education and the Hands On Greater Richmond Youth Philanthropy Project for their donations.
This is the second year of our Kiva lending group. We created this group to fund loans to recipients in underserved countries to pay for STEM education tuition and projects. So far, we have funded tuition and projects in Tajikistan, the Dominican Republic, Iraq, Pakistan, Kenya, Uganda, the Philippines, Indonesia, Paraguay, El Salvador, Kenya, and Peru. You can see the recipients and join our Blue Cheese Kiva Lending Group.
Globally, we continue our innovative Flat Dean & Woodie WorldWide (FD&WWW) programs. By sending out FIRST-approved images of Woodie & Dean, we encourage children to celebrate STEM. FIRST fans submit pictures of FD&WWW around the globe to the program's Facebook page; they have traveled from the South Pole to the Hawaiian volcanoes & everywhere in between.
Geocaching is a high-tech game of hide & seek with over 6 million players worldwide. Launched in 2009, our geocaching travel bugs of FD&WWW have traveled over 90,412 miles & counting. Our travel bugs have been across the US and countries worldwide, including Germany, Czech Rep., Austria, Canada, Portugal, China, New Zealand, Romania, Serbia, Moldova, Albania, Bosnia, Slovakia, & Ireland. A VA FLL team started after finding one of our travel bugs! Each one explains FIRST & our team.
